About AFFIRM and this Plan
AFFIRM is the Association for Federal Information Resources Management. We are a non-profit 501(C)3 organization dedicated to improving the management and strategic direction of Government Information Technology (IT).
AFFIRM brings people together in a neutral environment to learn from one another—across federal, state and local IT agencies, industry, nonprofits, and academia. We educate and inform the federal IT community, and nurture and mentor the next generation of IT leaders to address high level IT and management issues.
AFFIRM focuses on senior management issues from a multi-agency and functionally diverse perspective. We help our members gain a broader, more informed viewpoint in order to be more effective.
This plan describes the organization’s major focus toward providing membership benefits and establishing a path for sustained organization growth. Sound management and measurement is an inherent part of achieving these objectives. While this plan focuses on overall AFFIRM strategic objectives, the organization has committee plans that detail the strategies for improved baseline membership data, additional educational opportunities, increased communication to the membership and potential members to continue to validate the value proposition of the organization, and enhanced financial sustainability.
We are a non-profit, volunteer, educational organization whose goal is to improve the management of Information Technology for the Government.
AFFIRM Vision Statement
To be the premier organization that provides educational and professional development opportunities to government and industry executives and senior managers and a neutral forum for communication of government IT issues, challenges and solutions.
In priority order, the AFFIRM strategic objectives are to:
1.Deliver seminars and training programs that facilitate information sharing across industry and government members and in support of effective government through the strategic management and use of technology.
2.Continually increase and sustain government, industry and academia membership to enhance AFFIRM’s strategic value.
3.Be effective stewards of AFFIRM finances to ensure AFFIRM’s long-term sustainability.
4.Provide educational scholarships to support those entering the Federal Government or Federal technology workforce.
Objective #1 Seminars & Training Programs
Strategy: Develop seminars and training programs that facilitate information sharing across industry and government members and in support of effective government through strategic management and use of technology.
Objective #2 Enhance Membership
Strategy:Increase government, industry & academia membership to enhance strategic impact of AFFIRM.
Objective #3 Sustainability
Strategy:Be effective stewards of AFFIRM finances to ensure AFFIRM’s long-term sustainability.
